Guitar, Ukulele, and Bass Lessons: Inspiring New Musicians

Jimmi is an experienced music educator and a graduate of the Musicians Institute Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA. Before establishing his private practice in Larkspur, CA, Jimmi taught at the Blue Bear School of American Music in San Francisco. Later he moved to Marin Horizon School in Mill Valley where he taught guitar for 15 years and launched the "Jam Band" rock ensemble program.

With decades of professional experience in songwriting, recording, and live performance, Jimmi makes learning music fun while distilling his knowledge into manageable steps that result in the students' rapid growth and progress. For example, Jimmi recently had his first lesson with Chase and Johnny, two buddies brand new to playing guitar. The boys wanted to learn Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” They got to work and, over the next hour, learned the song. After which, the young troubadours took their guitars to the nearest street corner, began playing, and made their first $20.

A Personalized and Engaging Approach

One way Jimmi makes learning fun and more immediate is by inviting students to bring their favorite songs to their lessons. Depending on the complexity, he can often teach students to sing and play a favorite tune from start to finish within a remarkably short time.

His program also features regular recitals. These events provide a safe and celebratory atmosphere for students to share their music with family and friends, gain confidence and further their musical development.
